Method of treatment
Consult
The consultation begins with an introduction
We then do a comprehensive oral examination and may take x-rays. This is necessary for proper diagnosis. We cannot perform an endodontic procedure without a consultation and diagnosis. You will be informed immediately of the cause of the suspected inflammation.
During the consultation, you will receive a proposed treatment plan. An estimate of the treatment costs will also be made for you. The consultation takes about half an hour.
Treatment
The treatment itself will, in most cases, consist of a root canal treatment or nerve treatment
Sometimes a small surgical procedure at the root tip(apical surgery / apex resection) is also necessary.
In the same treatment, we usually make a filling, a buildup, or a good temporary provision on the tooth in question. We aim to complete treatments in 1 sitting. The duration of a session is between 1 and 2.5 hours.
Aftershocks
The treatment process can irritate the tooth
This irritation can cause post-treatment pain. This can last between 1 and seven days and can be suppressed with painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol. Sometimes there is also over swelling that needs to be indicated.
Aftercare
If necessary, your own dentist will make the (final) restoration (usually a crown or bridge) after treatment
We inform the dentist in detail about the endodontic treatment we have performed.
Together with your dentist, the result of the treatment is periodically followed up to assess the degree of healing.
